Betty D. Heller, 93, resident of Western Reserve Masonic Community in Medina, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 19, 2014. She was born May 4, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Wilbur and Bernice (nee Dole) Dresser. When Betty was 14, she and her family moved to Akron.
She graduated from Buchtel High School. She married her high school sweetheart Irvin Heller in 1943. She was a devoted homemaker, she loved her family and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty will certainly have a place reserved in Heaven. She was a dedicated member of Christ Methodist Church on Mineola Ave in Akron. Betty enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, crafting, cooking and recently her favorite outing was with the Thursday Night Supper Club.
Betty will be missed by her son, Randy (Joan); daughter, Deborah (Gordon) Gibbons; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Tucker, Elizabeth (Tim) Thomas, Ryan Gibbons, Jeffrey (Aimee) Kirsch; and great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jillian, Mimi, Addison, Abraham, Isaac, Noah, Aaron and Lilliann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Christine Kirsch; and brother, David Dresser.
Friends may join the family for visitation Friday, July 25, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road (corner of River Styx and Rt. 18), Medina. Visitation will also be Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 10 to 11 A.M. followed by Funeral Services at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Reverend Deborah Nees will officiate. Burial of cremains will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.
