Charlene Vankirk, 76, of Medina, passed away at Life Care of Medina, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, July 24, 2014. She was born June 16, 1938, in Pound, Virginia to Dallas Faye (Mullins) Hall and Edward Hall, Sr. and married Virgil Ray Vankirk December 15, 1956.
Charlene proudly lived to care for those she loved. She was an avid gardener and reader, loved to cook and listen to music, and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended family. She liked to travel, play cards, go to bingo, scratch lottery tickets, and go to Bible study with the Nottingham Court ladies.
She was the beloved mother of five, Betty (Joseph, Jr.) Pronik, Cindy (Fulton) Dawson, Robin (David) Sexton, Kathy Skomrock, and Jeffrey (Jan) Vankirk, Sr.; sister of Fred (Cheryl), Bob (Pavelina), Edward, Jr., Gary (Jamie), Lynda Hall; grandmother of 16; great-grandmother of 24; precious aunt to many; special friend to Jerry and Linda Jackson and loved by everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents; brother, Edward, Jr. and devoted husband Virgil.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 30, 2014, 10:30 A.M., at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 202 East Main St., Spencer. Pastor Joe Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 29, 2014, from 4 until 8 P.M., at the funeral home.
