Two OVI checkpoints in Montville Township Saturday resulted in one OVI arrest.
The checkpoints were set up on state Route 18 and state Route 3 and nearby area were the focus of “saturation patrols.”
The first checkpoint was on Route 18, between River Styx Road and the Interstate 71 interchange.
That checkpoint lasted an hour and 228 cars were checked. Seven cars were diverted for further investigation and no arrests or citations were issued.
A second checkpoint in the 5800 block of state Route 3 (Wooster Pike Road), near Lexington Ridge, lasted just over an hour and checked 50 vehicles. No citations were issued.
A saturation patrol in the area did make one OVI arrest. The person provided police with a blood alcohol sample of 0.153, nearly twice the legal limit.
Officers from Montville Brunswick Hills and Medina Townships participated in the checkpoint along with officers from Brunswick, the Medina County Sheriff’s Office and the Highway Patrol.
