Medina County buildings to get up to $3M in fixes

MEDINA — The county plans to spend about $3 million to install mechanical and lighting upgrades to 12 administrative buildings.

County commissioners approved a resolution Tuesday to begin advertising on the county website to solicit interest from companies that specialize in energy conservation.

County Administrator Chris Jakab said the upgrades are necessary to make the buildings more energy efficient.

He said preliminary cost estimates are between $2.8 million and $3 million.

Commissioners also approved a $7,300 upgrade in video and audio equipment for the hearing room at the Medina County Administration Building on North Broadway Street.

Jakab said the upgrades include a higher resolution for recorded meetings and higher quality speakers and microphones.

The equipment and installation will be provided by RPC Video, a company based in Verona, Pa.

Jakab said the current equipment is from the 1990s.
