He honorably served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. After his service Jim went to work for Ford Motor Company, were he retired. Jim loved the water and enjoyed spending time with his family at the beach.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Katherine (Mills); children, James R. (Linda) Gency, John (Joyce) Gency, Diane (Jan) Mencke and Robert (Bridgette) Gency; grandchildren, Jamie (Ivan) Kavedzic, Jimmy (Jenn) and Josh (Melissa) Gency, Jesse and John Gency, Chuck (Kim) Mencke, Crystal (Scott) Richardson, Eric Mencke, Bob, Jr., Ben, Brandon and Bethany Gency; great grandchildren, Justtin, Jasson and Jessica Kavedzic, Marita and Aurora Gency, Natalie and Averie Gency, Alana and Prudence Gency, Lillian, Emerson and Lucas Mencke, Eric and Zack Mencke and Kayla Flores; great-great-grandchildren, Jayden and Madison Kavedzic; sisters, Cleo Cobb and Peggy Goda.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, John Boy Gency, Erma Baker and Frida Griffon.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 11:30 A.M. at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 7654 N. Court St., Medina, with Reverend Jim Sperry officiating. Burial to follow with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
