Miriam R. Zemancik, 85, of Homerville, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 after a short illness. She was born June 6, 1929 in Homerville, to Fred and Rose (Dallinga) Rumbaugh and had lived her entire life in Homer Township.
She clerked auctions for J.O. Fenstermaker for many years as well as being a substitute bus driver for Black River Schools. Miriam had been a Cub Scout Den Mother and had worked for the American Red Cross as a Gray Lady for Lodi Community Hospital. She had attended Grace Brethren Church in Homerville and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Greg) Cook of Ashland; sons, David (Marcie) Zemancik of Homerville, Gary Zemancik of Sullivan; grandchildren, Joseph Zemancik, Melinda Henry, Rusty Cook and Dustin Cook; great-grandchildren, Emma, Clara and Leonora Zemancik; sister, Agnes Rumbaugh of Homerville; brother-in-law, Jim Zemancik of Homerville; and sister-in-law, Edna Cutlip of Glennmount, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 36 years, Orin, whom she married April 17, 1948; and brothers, Leon and Roger Rumbaugh.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi. Reverends Reid Firestone and Robert Holmes will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Homerville. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
