Joan Marie Sidor

Sidor_JoanJoan Marie Sidor (nee Marchak), 63, passed peacefully Sunday, August 24, 2014 surrounded by her family.

Joan was a dedicated and passionate music teacher for more than 35 years, teaching at Byzantine High, Brunswick City Schools, St. Mary’s Byzantine Elementary School, Incarnate Word Academy and the last 25 years at Independence Primary School.

She will be remembered by many for her terrific school concerts. She was also a devout Catholic who served as a choir director and started a weekly rosary at Holy Martyrs parish. She had a deep passion for her love of music, God and family who inspired many.

She was the beloved wife of Jack and loving mother of Christopher (Sarah) and Daniel; devoted grandmother of Jacob and Nathan; daughter of Elsie (Hannes) and George (deceased) Marchak; daughter-in-law to John and Marie Sidor; sister of Judith Churavy (Charles), Gregory Marchak (Cin) and Nicholas Marchack (Julie); sister-in-law to Dr. Timothy Sidor (Antoinette); a loving aunt, godmother, great-aunt and a thoughtful and caring friend to many.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Holy Martyrs Church at 10 A.M. Entombment will be at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery in Valley City. Friends may call at Waite and Sons Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 P.M. with a 1:30 P.M. Rosary.
