A Sharon Township man accused of rape has been indicted on 17 new counts of rape involving three victims.
This week, a grand jury indicted Nicholas Lane, 43, of the 7100 block of Boneta Road, with 17 counts of rape, four counts of sexual battery, and three counts of gross sexual imposition.
Lane was arrested July 1 on a felony charge of sexual battery, but a county grand jury indicted him later that month on additional charges of rape and gross sexual imposition. Those charges were related to the rape of a 14-year old boy.
The indictments handed down this week include 12 counts of rape, a first degree felony, four counts of sexual battery, a first degree felony, and kfour counts of rape, a third-degree felony, against a 14-year old victim.
Lane also is charged with one count of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony, and rape, a first-degree felony, against a 13-year-old victim. He also is charged with one count of gross sexual imposition against a 15-year-old victim. The indictments did not name the gender of the victims and Prosecutor Dean Holman did not return a phone call seeking comment.
Lane remains in jail. His bond was raised from $150,000 to $500,000 following the new charges in the indictment. A jury trial is scheduled for Sept. 29.
